These instructions will allow you to update your panel to the very latest firmware release. This process is currently applicable for the following products;

  • 740-01 Electric Vehicle Systems Panel Trainer
  • 741-01 EV Batteries and Charging Panel Trainer
  • 743-01 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Panel Trainer


Hardware Prerequisites

  • USB A to B Cable
  • Multimeter (for re-calibration procedure)


Software Prerequisites

  • You will need to have MPLAB installed on your PC. To download the latest version please visit this link - MPLAB® X IDE | Microchip TechnologyPlease refer to Microchips installation instructions for further details if required. Ensure the following elements are installed;
    • MPLAB IPE
    • 8-bit MCUs
    • dsPIC DSCs and 16-bit PIC24 MCUs
  • Download the Firmware Updater ZIP from this link - http://e.pc.cd/BGxy6alK Install by running the setup.exe


Panel Firmware Update Instructions

1) Locate and run the "LJ Firmware Updater" application which will be located in your "All apps" list. The software will automatically download the latest firmware when run so ensure you are online at this stage.

  • Note - You will be asked for permission to allow Windows Firewall to access mplab_ipe64. Please allow this for the updater function.

2) Connect the power cable and USB lead leaving the power switch in the off position initially.


3) Follow the on screen prompts to ensure the DIP switches are in the correct positions at each step before clicking "Continue".

  • Note - The Trainer will normally be automatically detected in the first step. For first generation trainers running early firmware versions the panel may not be detected and a warning saying that detection has failed will be displayed. If this is the case simply select the correct trainer from the drop down menu and continue.


4) The "Continue" button will grey out between each stage. Once the Continue button becomes bold again, carefully follow the on screen instructions before pressing Continue to progress to the next step.


5) Once complete the trainer will need recalibration - EV Panel Calibration : LJ Create - Customer Support

FAQs

Q) I need to perform the update in an environment without internet connectivity. Will this work?

A) Yes! Just run the LJ Firmware Updater in advance while you do have an internet connection. The required files will be downloaded for whenever you may need them in the future.


Q) Is recalibration essential?

A) Yes, the update process will overwrite the trainers data with default values which must then be replaced via the calibration process. Failure to do so will give incorrect readings.
