In order to make sure that our sample programs are suitable for all of our customers they have been created using V14 of TIA portal. These sample files will automatically be upgraded within TIA portal however some minor incompatibility may be experienced when using the latest versions of the software.

With each subsequent release of TIA portal newer firmware versions for PLCs and HMIs are released with the oldest versions being retired.

If you see an issue with a device within your program this can easily be remedied by updating the firmware version of the device. These issues are normally first identified graphically, as shown with the HMI device in this program.

Should you see this error please try updating the device version by following these steps;

1) Right click the device and select "Change device / version"

2) Select the device from the menu on the right of screen. In this example the device is a KTP700 Basic. The exact article number can be referenced on the hardware itself.

3) Once you have selected the device the available firmware versions will be displayed. As you can see here the program was originally configured with V15.0.0.0 firmware however my latest version of TIA Portal only supports V15.1.0.0.

Upgrading to any of the available firmware's should resolve the issue however you may wish to take the opportunity to upgrade to the latest available version.

4) Once updated the error will be removed.

Please Note: When you next upload to the device that has been upgraded a firmware update will be carried out. This can take around 10 minutes to complete so you may wish to schedule this outside of student contact time.
