We often suggest clearing the browser cache when customers contact us with issues on our ClassAct II system and this should always be the first thing you try if you are having problems. This document will help to explain a little more about the process, why we ask you to do it and how you can clear the cache on your browser.

If you need instruction on how to clear your cache clear-my-cache.com is an up to date source for all popular browsers. (Please note this is a third party site not run by LJ Create)

What does clearing the cache actually mean?

A web browsers cache is a temporary offline storage of web based files. The idea behind this is that files that don't change on a regular basis are stored locally so when you next visit a web page some of the content can load from your local machine, reducing the data that is downloaded via the web and making the page load faster.

Why do I need to do this?

Websites are constantly evolving and ClassAct II is no different. As we release new features, fix bugs and adapt to changes in web browsers it is necessary for us to update some of the script files that are normally stored in your browsers cache. Think of it like starting with a clean sheet of paper on which your browser can record the latest version of our system.

What happens if I don't clear my cache?

Most likely nothing at all. The files only have a limited time before they are replaced anyway. You will only notice problems if your browser is hanging on to older script files. Clearing the cache just speeds up the natural replacement of these files.

Will my web pages load slower after clearing the cache?

Maybe, but not normally enough to cause a problem. The quicker your connection the less impact it has and you may not notice any difference at all.

Am I going to lose all my website default settings, passwords etc.?

Only if you select the option to delete all browsing data. This isn't necessary, you only need to delete the temporary internet files. To retain the rest of your data deselect cookies, passwords etc. and only clear temporary internet files.

OK, so how do I do it?

Visit clear-my-cache.com and select your browser then follow the instructions shown.
