The following guide outlines the procedure for transferring TIA Portal licences on your PC.

1) Load the Siemens “Automation Licence Manager” software.

2)  Check to see if the licence is currently located on the local machine, ensuring  that “Licence Keys” is selected in the drop down menu. In the screenshot below  you can see that there is no current licence, only the 21 day trial which has expired.

3) Ensure that the Siemens licence USB is inserted into the PC and select the appropriate drive. You should see the licence file which is then transferred to the local hard disk by a ‘drag and drop’ operation.

4) You will now see the licence on the local hard disk. To remove the licence back onto the USB drive perform a reversal of the previous operation.

Tip – It is recommended that no other external drives are connected when this procedure is performed as the licence file can become transferred to the wrong drive.
